Description of workshop content

The workshop will begin with a short introduction, followed by an interactive discussion on the characteristics of AI-generated English and the challenges it presents. Participants will then complete two practical editing exercises, applying the techniques covered during the session. The session will finish with a group discussion to share insights, reflect on learning, and answer any remaining questions.

Susan Ring

Susan is an interpreter trainer, translator and communication coach with more than twenty-five years of experience helping professionals communicate clearly in English.

Originally from Ireland, Susan studied economics and German at University College Dublin before moving to Germany in 1992 to complete degrees in translation and interpreting at Cologne. After earning her MA in Conference Interpreting, she became a lecturer in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. Susan founded Ring Interpreting in 1999. 

Alongside her work in interpreting and translation, Susan has always been deeply involved in teaching English, starting with adult education in her early career, through university lecturing, involvement in developing a training platform for translators in early 2025, to specialised coaching for conference interpreters and corporate professionals today.

Since the emergence of AI Susan has become interested in machine-generated writing and how we can adapt it to reinsert our own voice into it.

Susan is a lifelong lover and learner of languages and this shines through in her enthusiasm for her work with other language professionals.
