The aim of this short course is to improve speakers' ability to communicate fluently and effectively in spoken Italian by enabling them to lose the characteristic sounds of their native tongue and to acquire an accent closer to standard Italian.

We will focus on how specific changes to the positions of the speech organs will result in a more accurate articulation and on how to master the rhythms and intonation of spoken Italian.
What will we cover?
- Italian vowel sounds
- single vs. double consonants
- rhythm and intonation
- word stress and sentence stress.
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Speak with a more natural pace and rhythm.
- Feel more confident about your spoken Italian
- Be able to recognise and produce more accurately Italian vowel sounds
- Distinguish between single and double consonant sounds
- Understand more about elision and other phonetic features in spoken Italian.
This course is open to all learners studying Italian from intermediate to advanced level (Italian 2 Upper and higher).
