Der aktuelle politische Diskurs in Deutschland

Das Bundesland Sachsen-Anhalt wählt am 6. September einen neuen Landtag - mit möglichen Folgen, die weit über die Landespolitik hinaus Wirkung haben könnten. Zwei Wochen später wird auch in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Berlin gewählt. Die Analyse der politisch-diskursiven Ergebnisse dieser Wahlen soll den Ausgangspunkt bilden für einen Blick auf die aktuellen Themen und diskursiven Strategien im gegenwärtigen politischen Diskurs in Deutschland. Im zweitägigen Seminar werden die erarbeiteten Themen und Diskursmuster flankiert durch Beiträge aus den deutschen Medien und ausgewählten aktuellen politischen Reden. In einem sprachlich-analytischen Vertiefungsteil sollen dann die für die jeweiligen Themen und Diskurse relevanten Termini, Kollokationen und Phraseologismen erarbeitet werden.

On September 6, the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt will elect a new state parliament—an event with consequences that could extend far beyond state-level politics. Elections will also take place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Berlin two weeks later. An analysis of the political and discursive outcomes of these elections will serve as a starting point for examining the current topics and strategies shaping political discourse in Germany today. Throughout the two-day seminar, these themes and discourse patterns will be supplemented by material from German media and selected contemporary political speeches. A subsequent in-depth linguistic analysis will focus on identifying the relevant terminology, collocations, and phraseological expressions.

Name and bio of the trainer

Isabel Reißmann is a political linguist and Germanist who works as a trainer and coach in the field of political discourse for language professionals at the EU institutions. She has several years of experience with the translation service of the European Commission and in EU journalism in Brussels.

In addition to a weekly webinar series on current political discourse in Germany, Isabel organizes an annual summer academy on German politics, language and culture in Berlin, designed specifically for interpreters. Her main topic is the rhetorical strategies of political speech in German. She regularly gives lectures and workshops on this topic, including for AIIC and the European Parliament.
