A review conducted on behalf of the World Health Organization considered language barriers as one of the main contributing factors in restricting access to mental health services for people who had migrated and had limited proficiency in the language of the new country.

PSYCHOLOGISTS

This training program should improve psychologists’ knowledge, skills and the confidence required to work effectively alongside interpreters in mental health settings. 

INTERPRETERS

Interpreting in mental health is one of the most challenging settings for both Level 6 Public Service Interpreters and Level 3 Community Interpreters, this training will help develop the ability to work in this context.

Both groups will have an opportunity to discuss their respective roles and learn from each other.  Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
