Talk on Overview of Interpreting in Legal Settings by Mariana Haladj-Asminian
This session led by Mariana Haladj-Asminian, a full member of AIT, Public Service, Business and Conference interpreter for Spanish and Armenian with over 20 years’ experience training interpreters from beginner levels 2 and 3, to professional interpreting qualifications at level 6, as well as post-graduate level qualifications in interpreting.
The session will include information about:
· Why are professionally qualified interpreters needed in the legal field?
· How do interpreters become professionally qualified and registered in the UK?
· Where do legal interpreters work?
· Interpreters’ Code of Conduct and issues of professional practice
· The role of empathy in interpreting
· Professional liability and money matters
· How to prepare for an assignment
· Interpreters’ wellbeing
